Winners of the 2024 Global Good Awards announced

Yesterday (3rd October 2024) saw the announcement of the winners of the 2024 Global Good Awards, at a ceremony held at BMA House in London. The awards recognise organisations and leaders who are achieving practical, real-world impact for people and planet that is both scalable and replicable – and who have inspiring stories to tell.

The full list of Global Award winners is available to view here: https://globalgoodawards.co.uk/2024-global-good-award-winners/

The inimitable sustainability expert Solitaire Townsend was the keynote speaker for the evening, presenting her thoughts on ‘Becoming a Solutionist’

Award categories include:- Global Good Company of the Year, Start-up Enterprise, Individual Leader of the Year, Community Partnership, Educational Excellence, Environmental Behaviour Change, Game Changing Innovation, Best Product, and Technology for Good. 2024 also saw the introduction of two new categories: Global Good Finance Player of the Year, and Wild World: Recover, Regenerate, Rewild.

There is also the Canon Young Champion of the Year category, which recognises a young person who has shown outstanding leadership in campaigning for a good cause around a social or environmental issue.

This year, a new award for Humanitarian Response Champions was added, taking its inspiration from our Ukraine Crisis Champions award from 2023, but with a wider scope. 10% of the category’s entry fees were donated to Goods for Good.

In addition to the donations to Goods for Good, the GGA’s support their charity partner, CoolEarth by donating 1% of all turnover from sponsorship, entry fees and ticket sales, and by helping to protect rainforest canopies via their carbon capture projects to match the emissions from the event that they aren’t able to remove. This year donations are expected to total a minimum of £2k.

The Global Good Awards take great care to ‘walk the talk’ across all areas of sustainability, including at their events. Commitments include a fully plant-based menu for the last six years, a preloved dress code, as well as strong discouragement of finalists flying to attend.

Integrity within the awards process has always been a non-negotiable; in 2018, they were the first awards scheme in the world to be accredited as ‘Outstanding’ by the Awards Trust Mark, retaining it every year since. The rating reflected the Global Good Awards’ commitment to running a scheme with the highest standards of ethical behaviour and transparency.

Sponsors for the 2024 Awards include past winners Reborn for the Waste Reduction & Minimisation category, and Genuine Solutions for the Circular Economy category. Canon EMEA returns for the fifth year as sponsor of the Young Champion of the Year Award, while Brandpie is sponsoring the Employee Engagement and Wellbeing Award for a third year and EcoOnline is also returning for a third year to sponsor the Company of the Year category. A special mention and thanks to Seacourt who have sponsored the awards for nine years; congratulations to them for the accolade of being the highest scoring B Corp printing company in the world, with an astonishing score of 150.2.
